TEMPORARY UPDATES TO BENTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD POLICIES DUE TO EXTENDED SCHOOL CLOSURES DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Graduation Requirements:  All Benton County high school seniors who were meeting graduation requirements, including completion of the prescribed number of Carnegie units, at the completion of the 3rd nine weeks of the 2019-2020 school year will be considered eligible to graduate.  Pursuant to the waiver granted by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), end-of-course exams will not be required as part of the requirements for graduation.

 

Grade Level Promotion:  All Benton County students who were receiving passing grades in all subject areas at the completion of the 3rd nine weeks, will be considered eligible for promotion to the next appropriate grade level.  Reading Gateway scores will not be required for third graders to be promoted, as approved by MDE.

 

Course Credits for High School Students:  Benton County high school students will receive the allotted number of Carnegie units (credits) for each subject area, provided that the student was receiving a passing grade for the course at the completion of the 3rd nine weeks.
