AES Teacher selected as "Pure International Miss Mississippi"

On January 4, 2020 in Corinth, Mississippi, Summer Sharplin won the title of Pure International Miss Mississippi. Summer is the daughter of Tony and Tammy Sharplin of Ripley, Mississippi. She is the granddaughter of Thelma and the late Glee Rutherford of Ripley, Mississippi; and Barbara Doggett of Laurel, Mississippi and the late Samuel Sharplin of Pearl, Mississippi. Summer is the third and fourth grade special education teacher at Ashland Elementary School. Her fiancé, Elliott Witt, is from Baldwyn, Mississippi and is a special education teacher and assistant football coach at Ashland High School. . During the competition, she competed in the three categories of interview, fun fashion, and evening gown. She won overall for fun fashion and evening gown. She also won most photogenic in her division. Summer will travel to Columbus, Ohio in July to compete against the fifty states for the title of Pure International Miss America.  Benton County Schools is proud of Summer and wish her much success in her upcoming competitions.
